The UNESCO Memory of the World as the pleasure to invite you to the event “Discover the Memory of the World Register on Google Arts and Culture”, scheduled for 27 January at 10:00am CET via Zoom.

UNESCO is launching a selection of its Memory of the World (MoW) International Register inscriptions on the Google Arts and Culture platform. We would like to thank all the institutions who provided compelling visual materials and context to tell stories of 66 inscriptions from over 30 countries. Users can discover stories that have shaped humanity's shared past: a diary of daily life in ancient Iraq, 40 years of planet Earth in a rainbow of satellite images, the stories behind the father of neuroscience and the first country in the world to abolish its army, and many more. The Google Heritage Preservation Team will present the platform and explain how to navigate the MoW page.

REGISTER FOR THE EVENT

The round table will also be an opportunity to discuss the educational value of the MoW International Register and introduce a variety of resources that UNESCO has recently made available for teachers and educators as well as younger audiences:  a children's book, an interactive e-calendar and an online course for teachers. To this end, you will hear from the Head of the Documentary Heritage Unit at UNESCO as well as the Director of an Italian publishing house and a Japanese author and illustrator.

The products represent a unique moment for documentary heritage to be better appreciated as a knowledge resource that be used by a diverse range of stakeholders in championing sustainable development in all its forms.

The discussion will be held in English for one hour. Participants will be able to ask questions and offer comments.
