The Strassler Center annual report describes the research, activities, and events that took place during the 2019-20 academic year. We are grateful that, despite the upheaval caused by the global pandemic, we have continued to advance important research projects. Generous contributions, both financial and intellectual, underlie the valuable scholarship that our students and faculty pursue.
Mass violence and genocide are events with devastating consequences that we seek to understand and address through a program of research, teaching, and public outreach. Over the past two decades, the Strassler Center has gained international standing for its PhD program dedicated to training students in Holocaust History, the Armenian Genocide, the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda and other genocides perpetrated around the globe. Committed to further growth and development, our vision is to introduce new areas of teaching and research dedicated to genocides that are not part of the current canon as we deepen our work in established areas.
